Where Students Meet the Future: UT Dallas’ Student Services Building
Modern design, sustainable features and flexible spaces that put students first

The University of Texas at Dallas envisioned a space that would be more than just an extension of its existing facilities — it needed a landmark for student engagement.
As the prime firm, Ò»ÌÇÐÄlogoÃ×·ÆÍà provided full architectural and engineering services for the new Student Services Building (SSB) Addition, creating a structure that is both contextual and independent, harmonizing with the campus environment while making its own bold statement.
Although it houses faculty and student organization offices, the SSB Addition is primarily devoted to communal spaces for learning, relaxation and collaboration. At its core is a two-story Commons, a bright, open space adjacent to the main entrance and connected to the original building. Large window walls fill gathering zones with natural light, while a dramatic communication stair invites students to explore destinations above.
Designed for impact and purpose
The centerpiece of the building is a 550-seat lecture hall, accessed from the second floor, designed for both academic and entertainment uses. On the third floor, seven versatile meeting rooms provide additional gathering spaces for students, reinforcing the building’s role as a hub for campus life.
Beyond its program, the SSB Addition reflects UT Dallas’ commitment to sustainability and modernization. Clad in zinc panels and high-performance glass, it maximizes daylight while reducing heat gain. Its scale and form respond thoughtfully to neighboring structures and pedestrian patterns across campus.
Ò»ÌÇÐÄlogoÃ×·ÆÍÃ’ facility programming services engaged administration, Student Services staff and Facilities Management from the outset. Through hands-on campus work sessions, the team translated student priorities into a final program that balances social spaces, seminar rooms, classrooms, conference areas, workrooms and state-of-the-art digital and communication technologies.
The Student Services Building Addition is more than architecture — it’s a physical embodiment of the university’s dedication to student success, well-being and connection. Whether hosting a campus-wide lecture, offering a quiet corner to study or providing a meeting space for student organizations, the building is designed to adapt to the dynamic life of UT Dallas.
